Just why is Yasmin required?

It is possible to get generic Yasmin as a birth control pill. Similar to other hormone-based contraceptives, Yasmin provides dependable security while allowing spontaneous sex. Yasmin is categorized as a combination oral contraceptive since it contains both the hormones progesterone and estrogen. Under the brand name Yaz, birth control tablets containing ethinyl estradiol and drospirenone are marketed. It works by preventing ovulation, or the release of a female egg from the ovaries. Additionally, it changes the uterine and cervical lining, making the cervical mucus thicker and more difficult for male sperm to penetrate the uterus and for fertilized eggs to stick to the uterus wall.

This pill is a kind of contraception that is used to prevent pregnancy. Women over the age of 14 who have started having periods and wish to use contraception to avoid becoming pregnant can also use it to treat moderate acne.

Ethinyl estradiol/drospirenone can also be used to treat the symptoms of premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD), which can include sorrow, anxiety, irritability, concentration problems, tiredness, changes in sleep patterns or appetite, muscle or joint pain, painful breasts, and weight gain.

This pill may be taken in addition to the above-specified treatments.

How safe is Yasmin as a method of birth control?

Very safe, but only if the medication is taken as directed.  To be effective, Yasmin generic must be taken one tablet at the same time every day, exactly as instructed by the patient information leaflet. When used properly, oral contraceptives are a very safe method that might stop more than 99% of all possible pregnancies. If you are pregnant or just gave birth, it is not recommended that you use drospirenone along with ethinyl estradiol. If you suffer from a migraine, uncontrolled high blood pressure, blood clotting disorder, circulatory problems, diabetes-related problems with the eyes or kidneys, unexplained vaginal bleeding, liver disease, or liver cancer, you must also refrain from taking this medication. If you smoke, are older than 35, have uterine or breast cancer, have jaundice brought on by birth control, or have a recent heart attack, or stroke.

You might need to use an alternate method of birth control, such as condoms or spermicide, during the first few days after starting the pills or if you happen to miss a dosage. Consult your doctor for further details.

Tablets containing ethinyl estradiol and drospirenone should always be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat, light, moisture, children, and pets.
